The National Anti-corruption Centre (NAC) presents the main actions carried out in the previous week in the field of combating and preventing corruption, as well as the criminal assets recovery. During the reporting period, the NAC carried out searches in Ialoveni (Costesti) in a case regarding the defective execution of a construction contract worth approximately 40 million lei. The administrator of the company contracted to carry out the works allegedly intentionally admitted deviations from the contractual provisions and the execution project. As a result of these actions, the sewage and wastewater treatment system has not been put into operation to this day, although the local public administration has paid for the works stipulated in the contract. Seven people were questioned by the NAC as “suspects”.

During the reference period, criminal investigation officers reported the initiation of 9 new criminal cases and the completion of criminal investigations in 10 files with a proposal for settlement, and 5 of them with a proposal for transmission to the court. Currently, 10 people, accused in the files managed by the NAC, are placed in preventive detention in two penitentiary institutions.

The Criminal Asset Recovery Agency (CARA) applied seizures on 20 assets worth over 10 million lei and took over administration of about 1 million lei. Other seizures, previously applied, worth over 8 million lei were confirmed by the courts. At the same time, freezing orders were issued on a bank account worth 600 000 lei and cryptocurrencies worth about 400 000 lei.

In the field of corruption prevention, the NAC submitted 26 expert reports and 3 opinions on draft normative acts to the authors. Also, 138 integrity records were issued, 2 operational analyses were conducted, and over 120 officials participated in anti-corruption trainings. At the same time, a group of anti-corruption volunteers of the NAC represented the Republic of Moldova at the International Conference of Collective Action (ICAC 2026) in Switzerland. The National Anti-corruption Line received 67 calls, and 1706 materials were registered in the institution's Chancellery.
