Three police officers from the Botanica Police Inspectorate, previously detained in a corruption case, were detained again in a case of the abuse of office

Trei polițiști de la Inspectoratul de Poliție Botanica, reținuți anterior într-un dosar de corupție, au fost reținuți din nou într-o cauză de abuz de serviciu

Three employees of the Botanica Police Inspectorate, previously detained by the NAC officers in a corruption case and being under house arrest, were detained again by the National Anti-corruption Centre (NAC) and prosecutors of the Chisinau City Prosecutor's Office. They are suspected of committing the crime of abuse of office under aggravating circumstances.

According to the accumulated materials, the suspects allegedly abused their official duties related to the preservation, integrity, evidence and recording of assets seized in the exercise of their functional duties. They are suspected of having, acting out of material interest, in prior agreement with other persons who are being identified and taking advantage of the vulnerable state of a person in their custody, stolen part of the funds taken from him, causing him considerable damage.

Currently, the detained persons are to be escorted and placed in the NAC's criminal investigation isolator for 72 hours. We remind that they were detained in April this year, along with three other employees of Botanica Police Inspectorate, being suspected of passive corruption and active corruption committed in aggravating circumstances. The criminal investigation actions concerned acts of systematically demanding and receiving financial means, in amounts ranging between 3,000 and 10,000 dollars, both in cash and in virtual currency, and the bribes came from persons involved in the consumption and illicit trafficking of drugs.

The criminal investigation in both cases continues to establish all the circumstances and identify all the people involved.

We remind that every person shall be presumed innocent until a final decision of the court.
