Driver's license for 3,500 euros. The NAC and prosecutors have detained a man from Cahul in an influence peddling case

Permis de conducere contra 3500 de euro. CNA și procurorii au reținut un bărbat din Cahul într-un dosar de trafic de influență

A man from Cahul has been detained by officers of the National Anti-corruption Centre (NAC) and prosecutors from the Anti-corruption Prosecutor's Office (APO), under investigation in an influence peddling case. He allegedly demanded 3,500 euros in exchange for facilitating the acquisition of a driver's license.

According to the investigation, the suspect allegedly claimed to have influence over members of the examination board within the Vehicle Registration and Driver Qualification Section (SÎTCCA) Cahul of the Public Services Agency. In exchange for the money, he allegedly promised he could ensure passing the theoretical and practical driving tests, followed by the issuance of the driver's license.

Part of the requested money was transferred under the surveillance of the NAC officers. Preliminary data shows that the suspect acted in complicity with other individuals whose identities are yet to be determined.

Today, anticorruption officers carried out searches at the suspect's home, seizing objects and documents relevant to the case. Investigations are ongoing to determine all circumstances and identify everyone involved.

The man is currently detained for 72 hours and placed in the NAC detention centre.

Every person shall be presumed innocent until a final and irrevocable court decision is given.
