An employee of the Soroca Education Directorate is investigated by the NAC for claiming illicit remunerations worth 8,000 lei and 850 euros

The National Anti-corruption Centre (NAC) and the prosecutors of the municipality of Balti have announced the conduct of searches at the premises of an employee of the Soroca Education Directorate, investigated in a case of influence peddling. The official is suspected of having claimed illicit remunerations from the mother of a student to arrange his studies and exams in a local college, in his absence, and to incorporate him into military service, evading the legislation in force.

According to the case materials, the suspect allegedly demanded and received 8,000 lei and 100 euros from the whistle-blower, claiming that he would have influence over the employees of the Public Institution "Agricultural Technical College of Soroca" and that he could determine them not to register the absences from classes of the young man, who intended to leave the Republic of Moldova, and that they would ensure that he passed the exams in his absence. The suspect also allegedly demanded and accepted 750 euros to organize the fictitious incorporation of the young man into military service with the subsequent issuance of a military record book.

Following the searches carried out at the suspect's office, residence and car, conclusive evidence for criminal prosecution was seized, and the suspect is being investigated at large. Currently, actions are being carried out to identify and document all persons involved in the aforementioned illegal actions and to hold them criminally liable. The criminal investigation is being conducted under the procedural leadership of the Balti Municipal Prosecutor's Office.
