An elderly person allegedly sent 400,000 lei to scammers on a virtual trading platform. NAC conducts searches in Chisinau, Edinet and Ungheni

The National Anti-corruption Centre (NAC) and the prosecutors of Chisinau municipality have announced several searches in Chisinau, Edinet and Ungheni municipalities in a fraud case. According to preliminary data, a group of persons, whose identity cannot be disclosed at the moment, which includes both citizens of the Republic of Moldova and other states, abusing the trust of an elderly person, allegedly convinced her to invest 400,000 lei through online cryptocurrency trading platforms, subsequently depriving her of the entire amount.

Following the criminal investigation, electronic information storage devices were seized from the suspects' homes, and the persons targeted in this case will be questioned.

The investigation into the case continues under the procedural leadership of the Chisinau municipal prosecutors.
