NAC takes action in a case initiated on corruption-related crimes targeting the apartment building in Durlești, affected by the fire on May 16

The National Anti-corruption Centre (NAC) and the prosecutors of Chișinău municipality have announced the conduct of several criminal investigation actions in a case initiated on corruption-related crimes. 13 people, responsible for the completion, authorization, construction and reception of the apartment building located on 75/1 Tudor Vladimirescu Street in Durlești, affected by the fire on May 16, are being searched today, and will be heard by criminal investigation officers.

In collaboration with the National Inspectorate for Technical Supervision, the NAC officers have established a circle of people involved in the design and construction of the aforementioned apartment building, namely:

• officials from the Durlești City Hall;

• officials from the Chișinăuproiect Municipal Enterprise;

• former employees of the Technical Supervision Agency;

• former employees of the Emergency Situations Directorate;

• construction site supervisor;

• designer;

• technical manager;

• construction beneficiary;

• land owner;

• other persons who mediated the work processes.

The criminal investigation body of the NAC has issued dispositional acts regarding the recognition of 10 persons as suspects.

At the moment, criminal investigation actions are in full swing, and the results are to be systematized by the end of the day.

We remind that any person shall be presumed innocent until a final and irrevocable court decision is rendered.
