03.07.2020 3647 ViewsA young man from Cahul denounced to the NAC that he had to bribe some intermediaries to escape military service, however, they would not have kept the promise. According to the whistleblower, two men, one of them a traumatologist from Cahul, would have promised him to influence the members of the medical-military commission, responsible for testing the recruits, to declare him unfit.
In fact, the whistleblower agreed with the two to give them 250 euros, a lamb and 10 liters of wine, as a reward for them, in exchange for the diagnosis “unfit to be enlisted in the Armed Forces of the Republic of Moldova”.
For not complying with the agreement, the young man went to the intermediaries, asking the money to be returned, and their discussion was recorded and documented by the officers of the General Territorial Directorate South of the NAC and prosecutors, as well as, the returning of 250 euros that had been passed previously.
A criminal proceeding has been initiated in this case for influence peddling, both men being investigated at large, after they had being questioned by the officers. They pleaded guilty, and if found guilty, they risk a criminal fine or imprisonment from 2 to 6 years.
We remind that every person is presumed to be innocent until the final and irrevocable decision of the court is pronounced.
The Office of Anticorruption Prosecution, South Office, is conduction the criminal investigation.
