07.07.2020 237 ViewsAn inspector and a forester, who work for Soroca Forestry Enterprise, were detained this morning, by the officers of the General Territorial Directorate North of the NAC and anticorruption prosecutors. The two are suspected for claiming a bribe from a man, under the pretext of helping escape from punishment for drunk driving.
According to the whistleblower, the employees of the Soroca Forest Guard would have stated that they had influence on some police officers, as well as on some representatives from the judicial system and that they could determine them to free him from criminal liability for drunk driving. For their services, the suspects allegedly claimed 1400 euros – the money that the whistleblower has passed to those two.
A criminal investigation has been initiated in this case for influence peddling, if found guilty, the both risk as a punishment a criminal fine or a detention for up to 6 years.
We remind that every person is presumed to be innocent until the final and irrevocable decision of the court is pronounced.
The North Office of the Office of Anticorruption Prosecution is carrying out the criminal proceedings.
