Former head of the State Protection and Guard Service to be investigated for exceeding duties
14.02.2022 1023 ViewsOn February 14, 2022, the Anticorruption Prosecutor's Office has sent to court the criminal case on accusing former director of the State Protection and Guard Service (SPGS) for exceeding his duties.
According to the indictment, the former director of the State Protection and Guard Service having the quality of a person with a position of public dignity, during 2019 – 2020, acting against the provisions of the Law on the state symbols, according to which the corporate symbols of the State Protection and Guard Service, is established by the President of the Republic of Moldova, based on the decision of the National Heraldry Commission, exceeding the special requirements imposed by law, as director, concluded contracts with an economic agent to purchase badges of corporate affiliation of the officer in civilian clothes and badges with individual identification number of the protection officer, that do not correspond to the descriptions of the Decree of the President of the Republic of Moldova, and therefore, breaking the heraldic norms.
Consequently, the targeted badges, purchased by the former director of the State Protection and Guard Service, were taken out of use, causing damage to the SPGS budget estimated at 190,772 lei.
The criminal investigation in this case was exercised by the National Anticorruption Center under the leadership of the Anticorruption Prosecutor's Office.
