Synthesis of the NAC: CARA seized assets estimated at around 5,1 million lei last week

The Criminal Assets Recovery Agency (CARA), under the NAC, seized assets estimated at around 5,1 million lei, based on the prosecutors’ delegations, last week. The assets were seized on four criminal cases initiated for passive corruption, excess of official authority, abuse of power, abuse of official positions, appropriation of another person’s property. The seized assets include 4 means of transport, a bank account, 3 dwellings, 2 residential constructions, 1 agriculture land and 3 construction lands.
In addition to the asset recovery component, the NAC has also carried out its activity on other dimensions such as corruption prevention, analytics, expertise and anti-corruption education.
Thus:
• The Analytical Directorate completed 7 operational analyses; other 110 operational analyses and 3 strategic analysis reports are under procedure;
• The Legislation and Anticorruption Expertise Directorate received 8 draft normative acts for the expertise, sent to the authors 20 expert reports and 8 opinions, 20 draft normative acts are under examination;
• 1192 materials were registered in the Center's Chancellery;
• 54 calls were received at the National Anticorruption Line;
• 66 integrity records were issued;
• The Anticorruption Education Directorate carried out 5 activities to inform and raise awareness on the risks and consequences of the corruption involvement, 6 sessions are planned for the current week;
• 3 persons were detained in the NAC Detention Center last week; 10 accused are in the Penitentiary 13.
