NAC and the prosecutors carried out searches in Comrat City Hall in a case of abuse of office

The officers of the General Territorial Directorate South (GTD) of the NAC and the prosecutors of the Southern Office of the Anticorruption Prosecutor's Office carry out, today, criminal prosecution actions at the headquarters of the Comrat City Hall. The searches are carried out as part of a criminal case of abuse of office in which a deputy mayor and a City Hall specialist are targeted, as well as 3 economic agents.

According to the case materials, decision-makers of the Comrat City Hall, using their work situation and acting out of material and personal interest, favored and would continue to favor three economic agents in the public procurement procedures. The fact of favoring economic agents is confirmed by the contracts signed by them with the City Hall, estimated at 135 million lei, during the period 2019-2022. This in the conditions where the decision-makers of the City Hall knew that all the companies are managed by the same family, use the same machinery and technical equipment, and the personnel indicated in the offers is the same for all 3 companies. 

Thus, in the morning of November 7, the officers of the GTD South and the anti-corruption prosecutors descended on one of the vice-mayors of the Comrat City Hall, a specialist of the City Hall and the office where the 3 economic agents operate. 

Currently, criminal prosecution actions are taking place, and all the persons concerned in the file are being investigated at large. 

The Southern Office of the Anticorruption Prosecutor's Office is conducting the criminal investigation.
