CARA under the NAC seized assets of over 12 million lei
24.07.2023 2308 ViewsThe Criminal Assets Recovery Agency (CARA) of the NAC seized assets, worth over 12 million lei, last week based on the delegation of the General Directorate on Criminal Investigation and Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office. These include a 20 means of transport, 2 cash accounts, a dwelling and 3 non-residential constructions, seized in the cases of the abuse of office, money laundering and influence peddling. Currently, the Criminal Assets Recovery Agency has 114 delegations under examination in 83 criminal cases on 183 subjects.
Also, the General Directorate on Operative Support carried out 3 judicial expertises, 2 of which are IT and 1 forensic, 76 expertises are in the process. Criminal investigation officers started 5 criminal cases and proposed 3 criminal cases to be transmitted to trial. Currently, the criminal investigation body of the NAC is managing 366 files.
The Legislation and Anticorruption Expertise Directorate received 40 draft normative acts for expertise, sent to the authors 26 expert reports and 11 opinions. Currently, we are working 43 materials, received from the authorities. The Analytical Directorate has carried out 6 operational, other 90 studies are in the process.
The Anticorruption Education Directorate carried out 9 activities of information and raising awareness.
The National Anti-Corruption Line received 37 calls. 1386 materials were registered in the Chancellery of the NAC.
