On October 4, 2023, in Paris, the Plenary Meeting of the Anti-Corruption Network for Eastern Europe and Central Asia (ACN) of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) was held, during which the Report on the progress of the Republic Moldova was adopted, in the context of the completion of the 5th monitoring round of the sub-regional peer review program " Istanbul Anti-Corruption Action Plan " (IAP). The meeting was attended by Iulian Rusu - director of the National Anticorruption Center and Veronica Mihailov-Moraru - Minister of Justice.
To be mentioned that, within the 5th round of monitoring, carried out by ACN/OECD during 2023, four states were evaluated: the Republic of Moldova, Ukraine, Azerbaijan and Armenia. For the Republic of Moldova, the position of national coordinator of this evaluation process went to the National Anticorruption Center.
Thus, the ACN/OECD experts thoroughly analyzed the progress made by our country in 2022, within nine performance areas (DP), namely:
· DP 1 - Anti-corruption policies
· DP 2 - Conflict of interest and income declaration
· DP 3 - Protection of integrity whistleblowers
· DP 4 - Integrity in business
· DP 5 - Integrity in public procurement
· DP 6 - Independence of the judicial system
· DP 7 - Independence of the Prosecutor's Office
· DP 8 - Authorities specialized in combating corruption
· DP 9 - Application of anti-corruption measures
It should be noted that, out of the nine areas of performance evaluated, four received the qualification "excellent" (Anti-corruption policies, Independence of the judicial system, Independence of the Prosecutor's Office and Authorities specialized in fighting corruption), and the other five areas were evaluated as having an average level of compliance with ACN/OECD standards.
President Drago Kos qualified the progress of the Republic of Moldova in the mentioned fields as very good, so that the efforts of our country are visible and particularly important.
