Two patrol agents from the Ialoveni-Hîncești Patrol Service of the National Public Security Inspectorate (NPSI) were detained by the NAC officers and prosecutors from the Chisinau Municipal Prosecutor's Office, being suspected of passive corruption. They would have demanded a bribe from a driver not to document an alleged case of driving under the influence of alcohol.
According to the case materials, on November 16, the driver was stopped by two police officers on patrol who, following the alcohol test, found that the driver was allegedly drink-driving. Thus, in order not to register the case in accordance with the legal provisions, the suspects claimed and received 1500 euros.
To accumulate evidence, searches were carried out in the service car of the NPSI. Cash in the amount of 1,480 euros and 400 lei was transmitted under the control of the NAC officers. The two suspects were detained for 72 hours and placed in the NAC Detention Center.
Currently, criminal prosecution actions are taking place, under the procedural leadership of the Chisinau Municipal Prosecutor's Office.
We remind, that any person who has been charged shall be presumed innocent until proven guilty according to the law.
