NAC synthesis: Searches in a case of embezzlement of the capital's patrimony and criminal assets of 1.7 million lei seized

The National Anticorruption Center has reported several activities, carried out last week on the anti-corruption component, as well as other actions from the spectrum of institutional attributions. The NAC officers carried out new searches in the case regarding the dispossession of public lands from the Chisinau Municipality City Hall. The members of the organized criminal group entered the ownership of 29 lands in the public domain of the local public administration, thus causing a damage of over 135,000,000 lei to the Chisinau City Hall. Also, the NAC took into its custody a BMW X5, seized in a case of fraud and money laundering, and a foreign citizen, investigated by the Center's criminal investigation body, ended up on the dock in a cause of influence peddling.
During one week, 10 criminal cases were started on acts of corruption, and another 11 cases were sent to prosecutors with a proposal to send them to court.
The Criminal Assets Recovery Agency (CARA) of the NAC seized assets worth about 1.7 million lei, last week, based on the delegations of the General Directorate of Criminal Investigation of the NAC and the Anti-Corruption Prosecution Office. Among them are 2 residential and one non-residential premises, 2 means of transport and cash. More than half a million lei was deposited on the NAC's treasury accounts, managed by the Agency.
In the field of corruption prevention, the Legislation Directorate completed and handed over to the authors 15 anti-corruption expert reports and 12 opinions on draft normative acts, examined last week. During the mentioned period, 9 anti-corruption trainings were organized for 400 people.
Also, 8 forensic expertises were completed. The NAC notified the performance of 2 operational analyses, the release of 263 integrity records, the reception of 46 calls to the National Anti-Corruption Hotline and 1413 materials registered in the Center's Chancellery.
