Update // NAC officers are continuing the criminal investigation on the case of abuse of office, admitted by public persons related to the land in respect of which the property right (surface) was registered.

At these moments, the NAC officers are thoroughly investigating the site, which is in the process of construction, with the participation of certified specialists in the field of constructions within the NAC, and later the permissive documents regarding the initiation of construction works will be checked.

The chief architect of the municipality of Chisinau and the administrators of a construction company from the capital came under the scrutiny of the National Anticorruption Center after they set up a scheme with the goal of dispossessing the municipality of a plot of land. It is about a lot located in a residential neighborhood in the capital with an area of 0.43 ha, with a value of about 22,000,000 lei.

According to the facts investigated, the decision-makers of the construction company, in complicity with the representatives of the Chisinau City Hall, the Public Services Agency, the "Cadastre" Department, registered a property right (surface) over the land related to the construction in the absence of the decision of the Chisinau Municipal Council and on the basis of an expired lease contract, and the basis of the registration serving the request of the chief architect of the municipality of Chisinau.

Later, after obtaining the registered right, based on expired permissive documents, the economic agent registered several real estates on the plot of land in question.

Today, the NAC officers and anti-corruption prosecutors conducted searches at the residences and work offices of the capital's chief architect and economic agent, where documents relevant to the criminal case were seized. Thus, the city architect was recognized as a suspect in committing the crime of abuse of office and is to be investigated in a state of freedom.
