15.04.2024 294 ViewsThe National Anti-corruption Centre reports several activities, carried out last week on the anti-corruption component, as well as other actions from the spectrum of institutional attributions. On Tuesday, a man from Cantemir was detained in an influence peddling case, being suspected of claiming and receiving 1000 euros for organizing the issuance of a car license. On Wednesday, the case in which a former interim head of the Chisinau Customs Post, accused of influence peddling and active corruption, was sent to court. The case was started by NAC in 2022 and concerns the actions of the accused, manifested by the systematic claim of financial means to influence some decisions. On Thursday, 4 searches were carried out at several addresses in the municipality of Chisinau and the northern districts of the country, in the land appropriation case in Podgorenilor Street, Chisinau municipality with a total area of 7.9 ha, worth over 10 million of lions. As a result, objects and documents relevant to the criminal case were seized.
To be mentioned that at the moment, 6 people, arrested in the cases initiated by the NAC, are placed in prisons. During the reference period, criminal investigation officers initiated 8 criminal cases and proposed 2 criminal cases for prosecution.
The Criminal Assets Recovery Agency (CARA) of the NAC issued seizure orders on assets worth about 40 million lei, of which 27 million lei were seized abroad. Among them are 3 residential and 3 non-residential rooms, a residential building, 5 means of transport, 3 agricultural lands and cash, seized in a case of fraud, money laundering and human trafficking. 3.6 million lei were taken into administration.
In the field of corruption prevention, the Legislation Directorate completed and delivered to the authors 19 expert reports and 26 opinions on draft normative acts, last week. Also, 8 forensic expertises were completed, and another 82 expertises are under the management of the specialized department. During the mentioned period, 12 anti-corruption trainings were organized for 760 people. The NAC notifies the initiation of 3 operational analyses, the release of 131 integrity records, the reception of 47 calls to the National Anti-corruption Hotline and the registration of 1590 materials in the Centre’s Chancellery.
