1000 euro for speeding up the procedure of importing cars from the EU. A resident from Chisinau, caught red-handed by the NAC

A resident from Chisinau municipality was caught red-handed by the NAC officers in case of influence peddling. He allegedly promised a person to expedite the import of vehicles from the European Union.

According to the investigated facts, the detained person, claiming that he would have influence on public persons from the Customs Service and that he could induce them not to create obstacles and to speed up the process of importing vehicles from the European Union, allegedly demanded and received financial means in the amount of 1000 euros.

As part of procedural actions carried out by the NAC officers under the management of the Chisinau Municipal Prosecutor’s Office, in the morning of April 15, 2024, the suspect was detained flagrante delicto, when receiving the financial means. Currently, he is detained for 72 hours and is placed in the NAC Detention Centre.

Every person shall be presumed innocent until proven guilty according to the law.
