06.01.2025 340 ViewsThe National Anti-corruption Centre (NAC) has reported the fine of a man with 300,000 lei and the confiscation of the amount received for committing two counts of influence peddling, investigated by anticorruption officers. The decision was pronounced by the Straseni Court (centre headquarters). According to the evidence presented in court, the convict claimed and received 18,000 euros from two people, promising them that he would influence their employment as forester at the Straseni Silvo-Cinegetica Enterprise, through his intervention on some public figures within this enterprise, but also within the "Moldsilva" Agency. During the reference period, criminal investigation officers initiated 5 new criminal cases. At the moment, 10 people, arrested in the files initiated by the NAC, are placed in penitentiary institutions.
Also, the Criminal Assets Recovery Agency (CARA) of the NAC issued seizure orders on assets worth over 4.3 million lei last week, based on the delegations of the General Directorate on Criminal Investigation (DGUP) of the NAC. These include a residential building, 3 agricultural lands and a land for construction, frozen in a file of embezzlement of foreign assets. At the same time, previously seized assets worth over 8.5 million lei were confirmed by court decisions.
In the field of corruption prevention, the Legislation Directorate finalized and submitted to the authors 14 expert reports and 3 opinions on draft normative acts last week. The NAC notifies the performance of 3 operational analyses and one strategic one, the reception of 32 calls to the national anti-corruption hotline and the registration of 1,808 materials in the Centre’s Chancellery.
