This week, officers of the officers of the Anti-corruption Education Directoarte of the NAC conducted trainings as part of the national campaign "I Decide with Integrity - I Vote with Accountability" in the districts of Soroca and Causeni, inviting mayors and representatives of local authorities, directors of educational institutions, as well as heads of decentralized local public services. During the trainings, participants spoke about voter corruption, combating electoral fraud and mechanisms for reporting corruption cases. The campaign aims to promote transparency and accountability in the electoral process in the Republic of Moldova.
The information and awareness-raising campaign "Integrity for Health" was also continued, carried out in partnership with NAC-MS-AO HOMECARE. The trainings brought together the managers of medical institutions and medical staff from the Soroca and Căușeni District Hospitals, during which the NAC officers informed about the institutional and professional integrity measures, the legal regime of gifts, improper influences, denouncing corruption manifestations, the whistle-blower institute, the role of the leader in ensuring and controlling institutional integrity, the procedure for assessing professional integrity and liability for lack of integrity. At the same time, the anti-corruption volunteers distributed to citizens and patients information materials on the rights to medical services and the mechanisms for reporting to the NAC and the health authorities.
During the reference period, the NAC officers promoted information activities for public agents from several public entities, such as: the Training Centre of the National Penitentiary Administration; the Directorate of Education, Youth and Sports, Bălți; Penitentiary Hospital no. 16 Pruncul and the National Bureau of Statistics. Public officials were also advised on policies to ensure professional integrity. The activities aimed to strengthen the climate of institutional and professional integrity, as well as to increase the degree of responsibility in the process of performing the duties of public officials.
We remind that information and awareness-raising activities on integrity policies contribute to the accountability of public officials regarding compliance with integrity standards, intolerance towards the phenomenon of corruption and the development of a pro-active spirit in denouncing acts of corruption.
