NAC conducted searches in a case regarding the commissioning of a 10 million lei sewage project in the village of Bilicenii Vechi, without verifying the quality and volume of the works

A representative of a construction company, a technical manager and an inspector from the Northern Territorial Directorate for Technical Supervision and Control of the National Inspectorate for Technical Supervision are being investigated by officers of the National Anti-corruption Centre (NAC) in a case of active corruption.
According to the materials administered during the criminal trial, the suspects allegedly promised the mayor of the Bilicenii Vechi commune goods and money in exchange for the favourable resolution of some issues related to the implementation of the project "Sewerage networks in the village of Bilicenii Vechi, Singerei district" worth approximately 10 million lei without carrying out the necessary checks regarding the volume, quality and real cost of the works performed.
Following the searches conducted today, jointly with the prosecutors from the Balti Municipal Prosecutor's Office, in the cars and at the homes of the suspects, conclusive evidence was seized for criminal investigation. Actions are being taken to identify and document all persons involved in the aforementioned illegal actions and to hold them criminally liable.
We remind that any person shall be presumed innocent until a final and irrevocable court decision is rendered, and the investigations in this case continue.
