3000 - euro bribe for a Driving License. A woman from the capital is Investigated by the NAC and prosecutors for influence peddling

A woman from Chisinau is being investigated by the officers of the National Anti-corruption Centre (NAC) and prosecutors from the Bălți Municipal Prosecutor's Office in a case of influence peddling. She is suspected of having demanded illicit financial means from a person to help her obtain her category "B" driving license.

According to the case materials, the suspect allegedly claimed that she had influence over an employee of the Transport Registration and Driver Qualification Office (SIITCA) in Chisinau and that she could induce him to adopt a favourable decision to pass the driving exam in the theoretical and practical tests, with the subsequent completion and issuance of the driving license in exchange for the amount of 3000 euros. The transfer and receipt of the money took place under the control of the NAC and prosecutors, and today searches were carried out at the suspect's home, from where conclusive evidence for the criminal investigation was seized.

It should be noted that the suspect admitted her guilt and is being investigated at liberty, and all criminal investigation actions are taking place under the procedural leadership of the prosecutors of the municipality of Balti.

We remind that any person shall be presumed innocent until a final and irrevocable court decision is issued, and the investigations in this case continue.
