An Anenii Noi resident detained by the NAC and prosecutors in a case of electoral corruption and illegal financing of political parties in the context of the 2025 elections
Officers of the National Anti-corruption Centre (NAC), in collaboration with prosecutors from the Chisinau Municipal Prosecutor's Office, carried out criminal investigation actions in a large-scale case aimed at documenting and dismantling the illicit activities of a group of individuals, committed in the context of the parliamentary elections of September 28, 2025. As part of the criminal case, a resident of the Anenii Noi district was detained by the NAC, suspected of participating in the commission of crimes of illegal financing of political parties and electoral corruption, committed under aggravating circumstances.
According to preliminary data of the investigation, the detained person was allegedly involved in the identification and recruitment of voters, to whom he was promised and sent sums of money, goods or other undue benefits, to influence the expression of the vote in favour of a political party. At the same time, he is suspected of involvement in the process of distributing financial means intended for electoral corruption and illicit financing of political parties. Following the searches carried out, documents, information storage devices, as well as other evidence relevant to the criminal case were discovered and seized.
The detained person is to be placed in the criminal investigation Detention Centre of the NAC. Actions continue in order to establish all the circumstances of the case and identify other persons involved.
The National Anti-corruption Centre reminds that any person shall be presumed innocent until a final court decision is rendered.
