A cadastral engineer, investigated by the NAC and AP, was sentenced to 5 years in prison with a suspended sentence and a fine of 250,000 lei for 3 episodes of active corruption
The Chisinau Court, Buiucani, found a cadastral engineer from the State Enterprise "Institute for Planning for Territorial Organization" guilty of committing 3 episodes of active corruption (art. 325 para. (1) of the Criminal Code). The court ordered a 5-year prison sentence, with the execution of the sentence suspended for a 3-year probationary period, as well as the application of a fine in the amount of 250,000 lei.
According to the evidence accumulated by the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office, jointly with the National Anti-Corruption Centre, and presented in court, it was found that the defendant, in three different periods of 2021, allegedly offered and sent money to some of his colleagues from the State Enterprise "Institute for Territorial Organization" in Chisinau municipality, in order to influence the creditworthiness scores in the pedological studies of some lands located in the Ștefan Vodă district, Ialoveni and Chisinau municipality.
Thus, in exchange for reducing the creditworthiness score of the soil of several lands, the defendant allegedly promised 1,500 euros and sent the coordinating pedologist the amount of 2,000 euros (in two instalments), as well as another 15,000 lei.
Although the defendant denied committing the incriminated act, the court, analysing the evidence, established his guilt.
The sentence can be appealed to the Chisinau Centre Court of Appeal within 15 days.
Note: The person accused of committing a crime shall be presumed innocent until his/her guilt is established by a final court decision.
