Fostul primar al unei localități din raionul Cahul și un om de afaceri, cercetați de CNA pentru prejudicierea bugetului de stat cu peste 630 000 de lei

The National Anti-corruption Centre (NAC) and prosecutors from the Cahul Prosecutor's Office have announced several searches in a fraud case targeting the former mayor of a locality in Cahul district and the administrator of a company. They are suspected of damaging the state budget by over 630 000 lei.

According to the case materials, the company administrator, acting jointly with the former mayor of the village of Taraclia de Salcie, allegedly falsified and submitted to the Agency for Intervention and Payments for Agriculture (AIPA) documents regarding the damage caused by the drought for the years 2022-2023 for several lands that he did not de facto manage. As a result, he received subsidies from the AIPA subsidy fund in the amount of over 630 000 lei, which caused considerable damage to the state budget.

To establish and document all the persons involved, the NAC officers and prosecutors conducted searches at the homes and cars of the suspects, who were to be escorted to the NAC for questioning.

We remind that all criminal prosecution actions are carried out under the procedural leadership of the Cahul Prosecutor's Office.

Note: Any person shall be presumed innocent until a final and irrevocable court decision is rendered.
