The lawyer, investigated by the NAC and APO for influence peddling, was sent to the dock. She admitted her guilt
The Anti-corruption Prosecutor's Office has completed the criminal investigation and sent to the court for examination the criminal case in which a lawyer is accused of committing the crime of influence peddling.
According to the evidence accumulated by the National Anti-Corruption Center jointly with the Anti-corruption Prosecutor's Office, the accused allegedly demanded money from the wife of a convicted person for the crime of domestic violence, whose sentence had been conditionally suspended. In exchange for the money, she allegedly promised that she could influence the employees of the Dondușeni Probation Office, to postpone the submission of the request regarding the replacement of the conditional suspension with the actual execution of the sentence, since the convicted person did not appear for probation.
The accused fully admitted her guilt, and the criminal case was sent for examination to the Chisinau Court, Buiucani headquarters.
For the crime of influence peddling, the Criminal Code provides for a fine of 100,000 to 150,000 lei or imprisonment for up to 6 years, with deprivation of the right to exercise a certain activity. Since the accused admitted her guilt, she may benefit from a one-third reduction in the maximum penalty provided for by law.
Note: The person accused of committing a crime shall be presumed innocent as long as his guilt is not established by a final court decision.
