A man from Hincesti, reported to the National Anti-corruption Centre, after allegedly demanding and accepting 750 euros and 4,500 lei to facilitate obtaining a driver's license
A man from the city of Hincesti was detained by the officers of the National Anti-corruption Centre (NAC) and Cahul municipal prosecutors in a case of influence peddling. He allegedly demanded and accepted 750 euros and 4,500 lei to help another man obtain a category B driving license more easily.
According to the investigation, the man claimed that he had influence over the employees of the Transport Registration and Driver Qualification Office in the city of Hincesti and that he could organize the successful passing of the theoretical and practical tests, with the subsequent issuance of a category B driving license. For his services, he allegedly demanded and received 750 euros and 4,500 lei, but because he did not keep his promise, he decided to return the demanded amount, the moment of returning the money being documented by the NAC.
Following the searches carried out at the suspect's home and car, money and his phone were found and seized. The man was detained for 72 hours and placed in the temporary detention centre of the Cahul Police Inspectorate, being recognized as a suspect. Currently, the criminal investigation is being conducted under the procedural leadership of the Cahul Municipal Prosecutor's Office.
