A man from Soldanesti detained by NAC for demanding a bribe of 50,000 euros to solve a human trafficking case

Officers of the National Anti corruption Centre (NAC), under the leadership of prosecutors from Chisinau, detained this morning a man from Soldanesti district, suspected of demanding a bribe of 50,000 euros.

According to the case materials, the suspect allegedly claimed that, together with other people, he would have influence over some public officials, whom he could induce to adopt favorable decisions in a criminal case aimed at accusing some people of committing the crime of human trafficking. More precisely, the man allegedly promised to intervene for the release of a defendant currently in preventive detention in Penitentiary no. 13, as well as for not holding him criminally liable, and for intermediation he allegedly demanded the sum of 50,000 euros from one of the accused.

At the moment, the criminal investigation actions are ongoing, with criminal procedural measures being taken to establish all the circumstances of the case and identify all the persons involved. The person was detained for 72 hours and is to be placed in the NAC Detention Centre.

The National Anti corruption Centre reminds that any person shall be presumed innocent until a final and irrevocable court decision is issued.
