Message from the Director of the National Anti-Corruption Centre, Alexandr Pînzari, on the occasion of the International Anti-Corruption Day

Dear citizens,
Dear colleagues and friends,

Today, December 9, we mark the International Anti-Corruption Day, a day when we remind ourselves that the fight against corruption is the most important objective of our country. Corruption is a scourge that undermines democracy, threatens the rule of law, endangers the economy and hinders the development of the country.

Therefore, this day is not only symbolic, but an occasion to reaffirm our strong commitment to this ongoing fight. It is an opportunity to take concrete actions, through which to prove that we are determined to eradicate this phenomenon that knows no borders. The fight against corruption is not won through words, but through deeds, through clear measures and through active collaboration between all state institutions and the entire society.

The National Anti-corruption Centre remains a key institution, both in the field of preventing and combating corruption, and in protecting the interests of citizens by promoting integrity and transparency. Our work is guided by professionalism, independence in activity and responsibility towards citizens. We investigate corruption cases, prevent abuses, promote integrity and act to ensure that the law is respected, regardless of status or function.

At the same time, corruption cannot be defeated by state institutions alone. Young people must be educated in the spirit of respecting moral and ethical values, and civil society must remain an active partner, contributing by monitoring this area.

The development of a culture of integrity is possible only through transparency in the activity of authorities at all levels, active partnership with civil society and the media, protection of whistle-blowers, international cooperation and harmonization with European standards.

The fight against corruption is an essential condition for the modernization of the country, but also a national desideratum. There is no room for compromise in this fight. For this reason, the NAC will continue to be a vigilant and determined institution, acting not only by combating corruption, but also by preventing this particularly harmful scourge.

In conclusion, I would like to express my gratitude to all those who contribute daily, through their work, to the consolidation of an environment of integrity, fairness and equity. It takes perseverance and courage to confront corruption, and the citizens of our country certainly possess these noble qualities.

Let us work together for a society in which transparency, integrity and responsibility are the values that guide us today and every day.

Thank you.
