NAC and Balti Municipal Prosecutor's Office conduct over 70 searches across the country in a case of illegal financing of political parties

The National Anti-corruption Centre (NAC), jointly with the Balti Municipal Prosecutor's Office, is conducting over 70 searches this morning throughout the Republic of Moldova, including in Chisinau, in a criminal case targeting suspicions of illegal financing of political parties under aggravating circumstances.
According to preliminary investigations, a reasonable suspicion was found regarding the activity of a group of persons suspected of having implemented a coordinated criminal plan, in the pre-electoral period, preceding the parliamentary elections set for September 28, 2025. Among the persons targeted are decision-makers affiliated with political parties, members and supporters, who allegedly created a scheme to introduce illicit funds into the country, intended for the illegal support of political parties, initiative groups and electoral competitors.
Following the searches carried out, financial means in various currencies, information carriers, draft documents, and other materials relevant to the investigation were seized. The criminal investigation actions are ongoing, and the NAC and prosecutors will return with additional details as the investigations progress.
The NAC encourages citizens to report suspicious actions related to electoral corruption and reminds about the activation of two telephone lines intended to receive reports regarding voter corruption, illegal financing of political parties, attempts to illegally influence the vote, or other suspicious actions in the electoral context.
