NAC and Balti prosecutors conduct searches in the north of the country in a complex case of electoral corruption, money laundering and illegal financing of political parties

The National Anti-corruption Centre (NAC), in collaboration with prosecutors from the Balti Prosecutor's Office, is conducting criminal investigations in a complex case involving money laundering, voter corruption and illegal financing of political parties. The ongoing investigations are targeting a criminal scheme, implemented in the run-up to the parliamentary elections on September 28, 2025 by decision-makers, members and supporters of political parties. At this time, over 50 home searches and searches at the headquarters of a political party are underway in the north of the country, targeting 32 people.
According to the accumulated evidence, the aforementioned persons, acting in an organized manner and having well-defined roles, are suspected of involvement in the transfer and conversion of assets derived from illicit income, with the aim of disguising their origin; the use of bank accounts and electronic wallets, including abroad, for the withdrawal and redistribution of funds and the illegal introduction of funds into the territory of the Republic of Moldova, which were subsequently used for the illegal financing of political activities, contrary to legal provisions.
In parallel, electoral corruption actions are documented where politically affiliated persons identify and recruit voters or supporters who are promised sums of money, goods or other benefits, with the aim of influencing their electoral behaviour. At the moment, the procedural actions are ongoing, and we will come back with details at the end of the operation.
In this context, the NAC encourages citizens to report suspicious actions related to electoral corruption and recalls the activation of two telephone lines intended to receive reports regarding voter corruption, illegal financing of political parties, attempts to illegally influence the vote or other suspicious actions in the electoral context. Reports can also be submitted anonymously, and all calls are examined with maximum seriousness and confidentiality.
