NAC and prosecutors conduct searches in Chisinau in a case of illegal financing of political parties. Over 20 million lei were seized

The National Anti-corruption Centre (NAC) and the Chisinau Prosecutor's Office announce the conduct of several searches in the capital, as part of a large criminal case regarding suspicions of illegal financing of political parties in aggravating circumstances. According to preliminary data, the investigation targets the actions of a group of individuals suspected of being involved in a coordinated criminal plan in the run-up to the parliamentary elections scheduled for September 28, 2025. Among those targeted are decision-makers affiliated with political parties, members and supporters, who allegedly contributed to the illegal channelling of funds to political parties.

Following the searches, financial means in various currencies equivalent to over 20 million lei, electronic data storage devices, draft documents, as well as other relevant evidence were seized, which support the reasonable suspicion of illegal financing. The actions are ongoing, and we will return with details as the investigations progress.

In this context, the NAC reminds citizens about the activation of two telephone lines intended to receive notifications regarding cases of electoral corruption, illegal financing of political parties, attempts to illegally influence voters or other suspicious actions in the electoral context.
