CNA și procurorii efectuează percheziții în Chișinău, Șoldănești și Rezina în dosare de corupție sistemică ce vizează eliberarea ilegală a certificatelor medicale pentru șoferi

The National Anti-corruption Centre (NAC) and prosecutors from the Chisinau Municipal Prosecutor's Office inform that they are conducting criminal investigation in several cases of passive corruption, active corruption and influence peddling, targeting members of the Special Narcology Commission, the Medical Commission for Drivers and Candidates for Driving Licenses, as well as the Special Commission for the Evaluation of Mental Capacity.

According to the circumstances established so far, the president/member of the aforementioned commissions, established within the Şoldănești District Hospital, who concurrently holds the position of chief physician of the Consultative Section, would have acted systematically and in concert with other doctors within the institution in order to illegally issue medical certificates without their holders being subjected to mandatory medical examinations. He would have claimed, accepted and received, personally or through intermediaries, monetary means that were not due to him, in amounts ranging between 1,000 and 5,000 lei.

Today, the NAC officers, under the procedural leadership of the Chișinău Municipal Prosecutor's Office, are carrying out about 30 searches in Chișinău municipality, Şoldănești district and Rezina district. The actions take place at the homes, work offices and transport units of the targeted persons, in order to document the facts of demanding and receiving undue financial means for the issuance of medical certificates. The chief physician of the Consultative Section of the IMSP Şoldănești District Hospital was detained for 72 hours.

The NAC emphasizes that, according to the law, any person shall be presumed innocent until a final and irrevocable court decision is pronounced.

In this context, the NAC reminds citizens about the operation of two telephone lines intended to receive reports on corruption cases and related facts:
• The NAC Hotline: (+373) 78 710 116 – available 24/24, including from abroad, through audio/video calls, SMS and the Viber, Signal, Telegram and WhatsApp applications;
• National Anti-corruption Line: 0800 55555 – free call from the territory of the Republic of Moldova.

The National Anti-corruption Centre encourages citizens to report any suspicion of corruption, thus contributing to the prevention and fight against this phenomenon.
