NAC is conducting searches in the capital. The target is a group of individuals involved in disinformation and manipulation of public opinion, for a fee, in the interest of certain political parties

Officers of the National Anti-corruption Centre (NAC), in collaboration with prosecutors from the Chisinau City Prosecutor's Office, are conducting searches in the capital today in a large criminal case initiated based on reasonable suspicions of illegal financing of political parties, money laundering and electoral corruption in aggravating circumstances. According to preliminary data, the investigation targets the illicit activities of a group of individuals involved in disinformation and manipulation of public opinion for a fee in the interest of certain political parties.
In fact, it was found that the individuals had acted in concert, at the request of a political force, to manipulate public opinion through various surveys for which they received remuneration from illicit sources. In order to carry out the task, the group recruited other people whom they paid from undeclared sources, whose role was to collect information based on surveys regarding voters' preferences for certain political parties.
The same case documents the illicit actions carried out in the period leading up to the parliamentary elections of September 28, 2025, manifested by the recruitment of voters and/or supporters who were allegedly promised money, goods, services or other benefits to induce them to exercise their electoral rights in a certain way and to support a certain political party.
The NAC documented in detail the transactions with monetary means between the group members, fixing actions of transmitting money in various currencies. The persons targeted in today's actions will be investigated while at liberty. The criminal investigation continues for the complete documentation of the case and the establishment of all circumstances.
We note that any person shall be presumed innocent until a final and irrevocable decision is rendered by the court.
