NAC Synthesis: Over 30 searches in a systemic corruption case, 13 million lei of seized assets and several preventive activities in the field of anti-corruption education
The National Anti-corruption Centre presents the weekly balance sheet of the activities carried out in the dimensions of combating and preventing corruption, as well as the recovery of assets derived from crimes. During the reporting period, the NAC officers carried out over 30 searches in a criminal case targeting systemic corruption in the process of obtaining driving licenses in the Calarasi district, actions carried out in continuation of the investigations initiated on October 15, when 50 searches took place and three people were detained. Following the new raids, one person was detained, and 22 people are to be questioned as suspects, being investigated at liberty. At the same time, 13 criminal cases were initiated, and 7 people are in pre-trial detention.
In the context of the Anti-Corruption Week, the NAC carried out several activities aimed at promoting integrity and strengthening institutional cooperation. On December 9, 2025, on the International Anti-Corruption Day, a meeting with development partners took place, as well as the informative session "Integrity for Good Governance", held by the DEA officers for Members of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova and employees of the Parliament. Also, representatives of the Centre participated in the training organized by the International Anti-Corruption Academy (IACA) in Austria. The dialogue with the public was strengthened through the Open Day on December 11 and the Anti-Corruption Café on December 12, 2025.
In terms of recovering illicit assets, the Criminal Assets Recovery Agency (CARA) of the NAC seized assets worth over 13 million lei in money laundering, fraud and theft cases. The seized assets include 8 residential and 2 non-residential buildings, one residential and 2 non-residential premises, 7 means of transport, 6 agricultural land and 7 for construction. Also, seizures worth approximately 5.5 million lei, previously applied, were confirmed by court decisions.
In the field of corruption prevention, the Legislation Directorate submitted 30 legislative expertise reports and an opinion to the authors. At the same time, 122 integrity records were released, and 41 calls were received at the National Anti-corruption Line. 1900 materials were registered in the institution's Chancellery.
