A new case of influence peddling in the issuance of driving licenses documented by the NAC and prosecutors. The bribe amount is 3,000 euros
Officers of the National Anti-corruption Centre and prosecutors of the Chisinau municipality have conducted searches today at a resident of Straseni district in a criminal case of influence peddling. He allegedly demanded illicit financial means from a person to help him perfect his category "C" driving license in exchange for illicit remuneration.
According to the investigation, the suspect allegedly demanded and received 3,000 euros from a candidate for a driving license, claiming that he would have influence over public figures within the Public Services Agency and that he could determine them to ensure that he successfully passed the theoretical and practical test, with the subsequent issuance of the driving license. In exchange for the financial means received, the suspect also organized the taking of the internal exam within an institution for practical training of future drivers without the physical presence of the candidate, being issued a certificate in this regard.
Following the searches at the suspect's home and the driving school premises, documents relevant to the case were discovered and seized, and the person will be investigated at liberty.
We remind that any person shall be presumed innocent until a final and irrevocable court decision is rendered, and the investigations in this case continue.
