New searches in the file of the corruption scheme in the field of cosmetic surgery. Another employee of a salon in the capital, detected with a fake diploma

Officers of the National Anti-corruption Centre (NAC) and prosecutors of the Chisinau Municipal Prosecutor's Office continue to document the corruption scheme in the field of cosmetic medicine. Several searches are currently underway, in a new episode of the same file. The investigations target the employee of a beauty salon in the capital, and representatives of the Public Health Center within the National Agency for Public Health (ANSP) were also involved in today's actions.

According to the criminal investigation, the woman holds a fake diploma allegedly issued by a higher education institution in the Republic of Moldova. Having been notified by the NAC, the aforementioned institution informed that there is no such document in the academic records. Criminal proceedings are currently underway both in the salon where the suspect works, and at her home and car.

We remind you that last week, the National Anti-corruption Centre and prosecutors detained the head of a multifunctional center within the Public Services Agency (ASP), suspected of having demanded and received 15,000 euros in bribes from the administrators of salons specializing in dermatology and aesthetic surgery in the Republic of Moldova and Romania in exchange for the completion of fake graduation diplomas from a higher education institution abroad, without the beneficiaries having actually followed the respective studies. The person in question allegedly claimed to have influence over decision-makers in the field of education and health in the Republic of Moldova, promising that he could facilitate the recognition and equivalence of diplomas from abroad. Thus, holders of fake diplomas, without real professional training, could have obtained the right to perform medical and aesthetic procedures in salons in the country. On Friday, the court ordered the preventive arrest of the operation for a period of 20 days.

The case, documented by the NAC for more than 6 months, highlights an alarming phenomenon for public safety – corruption and falsification of professional qualifications in the field of aesthetic medicine, through which unqualified persons end up carrying out activities with a direct impact on the health of citizens. The NAC and the Prosecutor's Office urge citizens and salon administrators to report any case of corruption or illegal activity, thus contributing to the protection of public health and professional integrity in the field of beauty.

We remind that any person shall be presumed innocent until a final and irrevocable court decision is rendered.
