Over 10,000 euros for rulings in favor of an economic agent. A lawyer and an employee of a court in Chisinau detained by the NAC and the APO in a case of influence peddling

A lawyer and an employee of a court in Chisinau were detained by officers of the National Anti-corruption Centre (NAC) and prosecutors of the Anti-corruption Prosecutor's Office (APO) in a criminal case initiated for influence peddling.

According to the case materials, the lawyer allegedly sent the court employee amounts ranging from 4,500 to 6,000 euros for each case, claiming that he would have influence over judges from courts of various levels and could determine them to rule in favor of an economic agent.

The NAC officers, under the procedural leadership of the prosecutors, conducted searches at the suspects' homes and means of transportation, as well as in a service office. As a result of the criminal investigation, objects and documents relevant to the criminal case were seized.

The two suspects were detained for 72 hours and placed in the NAC's detention centre. The criminal investigation continues to establish all the circumstances of the case and identify other persons who may be involved in the scheme.
