Over 50 searches carried out by the NAC in a case of systemic corruption in the issuance of driving licenses in Calarasi: 3 suspects detained, 53 candidates investigated

Officers of the National Anti-corruption Centre (NAC), jointly with the prosecutors of the Chisinau municipality, carried out over 50 searches in a large criminal case targeting systemic corruption in the process of obtaining driving licenses in Calarasi. Following the criminal investigation, 3 people were detained for 72 hours.
According to the case materials, 53 candidates for obtaining a driving license, the administrator of a driving school in the city of Calarasi, the institution's secretary, 3 examiners, a driving instructor and a former employee of the Public Services Agency (ASP) are being investigated for active corruption, passive corruption and influence peddling. The scheme involved demanding and receiving sums of money between 500 and 700 euros to ensure passing the theoretical and practical exams, necessary to obtain the right to drive vehicles.
Currently, the candidates are to be heard and recognized as suspects for committing the crime of active corruption. At the same time, legal measures are being taken to suspend or cancel the right to drive vehicles obtained through fraudulent means.
The NAC and the prosecutors continue criminal investigation actions to document all the persons involved and establish the entire criminal chain.
