The President of the Glodeni Territorial Office of the former "Sor" Political Party, investigated by the NAC, APO and SIS, was sentenced to 5 years and 6 months in prison
The Chisinau Court, Buiucani headquarters, pronounced a sentence of conviction against the President of the Glodeni Territorial Office of the former "Sor" Political Party, regarding the commission of the crime - knowingly accepting financing of the political party from an organized criminal group, in an extended form, as an accomplice.
The court imposed a prison sentence on her for a term of 5 years and 6 months, to be served in a women's penitentiary, and deprived her of the right to hold leadership positions in political parties or their organizations and to exercise financial administration or logistical organization activities within political formations and associative entities with political purposes, for a period of 5 years.
Until the sentence becomes final, the preventive measure - preventive arrest - was maintained, in order to detain her by the police and the management in the appropriate penitentiary institution to serve the established sentence.
Also, from the defendant's account, the confiscation for the benefit of the state of the amount of over 5.3 million lei was ordered, as monetary means used to commit the crime, and her "Iphone X" mobile phone was also confiscated.
The seizure applied to the defendant's assets worth over 1.5 million lei was maintained.
According to the evidence administered by the National Anti-corruption Centre (NAC), jointly with the Anti-corruption Prosecutor's Office (APO) and the Information and Security Service (SIS), the defendant, acting as President of the Glodeni Territorial Office of the former "Sor" Political Party (declared unconstitutional by Decision of the Constitutional Court no. 10 of 19.06.2023 and removed from the State Register of Legal Entities on 23.01.2024), as an accomplice, during the period July 2022 - October 2022, would have knowingly accepted the financing of the political party from the organized criminal group, in the total amount of 5,320,167 lei, financial means intended for paying for the protests organized by the political party and paying unaccounted salaries (in envelopes) to members of territorial offices.
The defendant denied committing the acts, but the court considered the evidence presented to be conclusive and found her guilty.
The sentence can be appealed to the Central Court of Appeal within 15 days.
Note: The person accused of committing a crime shall be presumed innocent until his guilt is established by a final court decision.
