Public servant, detained by the NAC for claiming a 1700-euro bribe in exchange for hiring a person in a law institution

The officers of the National Anti-corruption Centre (NAC), under the procedural leadership of the Chisinau Prosecutor's Office, detained a public official, suspected of claiming and receiving a bribe worth 1700 euros to facilitate the hiring of a person in a law institution.

According to the materials of the criminal investigation, the man, originating in the municipality of Chisinau, requested the amount mentioned in exchange for the granting of support and for creating the necessary conditions for the person to be employed in a public position. 

Today, the NAC officers conducted searches at the domicile and office of the suspect, with evidence relevant to the case being collected. Subsequently, he was detained for 72 hours and placed in the NAC Detention Centre. The investigations in this case are in full swing, and investigators and prosecutors are working on establishing all persons involved in illegal actions and attracting them to criminal liability, according to the legislation in force. 

The National Anti-corruption Centre reminds that any person shall be presumed to be innocent until a final and irrevocable decision is delivered by the court.
