Searches in Rezina and Soldanesti: Eight people are investigated by the NAC and prosecutors in corruption cases
The National Anti-corruption Centre (NAC) and the prosecutors of Chisinau municipality announce the conduct of criminal investigation actions in Soldanesti and Rezina, in the cases of active and passive corruption and influence peddling. The case involves 8 people, including civil servants.
According to the investigation, the suspects allegedly demanded and received illicit remuneration for influencing decisions adopted by some specialized commissions. Among the services provided are: the early release of a prisoner from Penitentiary No. 18 (Branesti), facilitating the obtaining of a medical certificate regarding the ability to carry weapons, facilitating the registration of weapons without documents, as well as facilitating the obtaining of driving licenses and related documents within the subdivisions of the Public Services Agency.
Thus, within the framework of special investigative measures, several episodes were documented, relevant evidence for the criminal case was obtained, and the involvement of several intermediaries and public officials was established. Today, 11 searches were carried out in the districts of Soldanesti and Rezina, targeting the homes of the suspects and the offices of some public institutions. As a result of the searches, mobile phones, electronic data carriers, documents and other objects relevant to the investigation were seized.
The criminal investigation continues to establish all the circumstances of the case, identify all the persons involved and adopt the necessary legal measures.
According to the law, any person shall benefit from the presumption of innocence until a final court decision is rendered.
