A state secretary and a representative of an economic agent, detained by the NAC and anti-corruption prosecutors in a corruption case

Officers of the National Anti-corruption Centre (NAC), under the procedural leadership of the Anti-corruption Prosecutor's Office (APO), detained a state secretary from the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry and a representative of an economic agent, in a criminal case initiated on corruption charges.

According to the accumulated materials, the representative of the economic agent allegedly sent money to the state secretary so that he could influence persons with responsible positions within the National Food Safety Agency to resume the import permit for poultry and animal feed from Ukraine. Previously, the import procedure had been suspended by the ANSA following irregularities found during the controls carried out.

Currently, the NAC officers and anti-corruption prosecutors are conducting searches in the service office of the State Secretary within the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry, as well as at other addresses, to accumulate and consolidate evidence.

Criminal investigation actions continue to establish all the circumstances of the case, identify all the persons involved and document the entire criminal activity.

The NAC and APO will return with additional details as the investigations continue.
