State Tax Inspector under Investigation by the NAC and APO in a influence peddling case

The Officers of the National Anti-corruption Centre (NAC), in cooperation with the prosecutors of the Anti-corruption Prosecutor’s Office (AP), carried out searches today targeting a State Tax Service (SFS) inspector. The public official is under criminal investigation in a case involving suspicions of influence peddling.

According to the case files, the tax official allegedly claimed and received monetary funds amounting to 200 euros, alongside additional services valued at 3,000 lei from the representative of the respective company. The money and services were allegedly demanded to influence a colleague within the State Tax Service to favorably resolve a pending case file concerning an alleged violation of tax legislation by the economic agent.

Today, anti-corruption officers conducted searches at the suspect's home and office, resulting in the seizure of evidence relevant to the criminal case. The targeted individual is being investigated while remaining at liberty. Currently, investigations are ongoing to establish all circumstances and identify any other potentially involved individuals.
