Two individuals from Chisinau under criminal investigation by NAC and prosecutors for influence peddling with a bribe of 16,000 euros

Officers of the National Anti-corruption Centre (NAC) and prosecutors from Chisinau are conducting criminal investigations today in a case of influence peddling, which targets a couple from the capital.

The people are suspected of having demanded and received illicit remuneration from two figures in a criminal case, in exchange for influencing public officials and getting them to adopt a favourable decision on a case under management. Thus, the materials administered in the criminal case show that the suspects allegedly demanded and received 8,000 euros each from the whistle-blowers.

Currently, the National Anti-corruption Centre is conducting searches, under the procedural leadership of the Chisinau Municipal Prosecutor's Office, to identify and document all persons involved in the aforementioned illegal actions and to hold them criminally liable.

We remind that any person shall be presumed innocent until a final and irrevocable court decision is rendered.
