A young man, detained by the NAC for influence peddling in two episodes of fraudulently obtaining driving licenses. He allegedly demanded and received 4,000 euros

A man from Chisinau was detained by officers of the National Anti-corruption Centre (NAC) and prosecutors from the Balti Municipal Prosecutor's Office in a case of influence peddling, which includes two episodes of corruption. He is suspected of demanding and receiving a total of 4,000 euros from two persons to influence employees of the Driver Examination Department of the Public Services Agency (ASP) to facilitate the fraudulent obtaining of driving licenses.
According to the case materials, in the first episode, the man allegedly demanded and received 2,700 euros to ensure the issuance of a driving license for categories B and C, without taking the legal exams, invoking the help of a relative. In another case, he allegedly requested and received 1400 euros for a category B driving license.
Following special investigative measures and criminal investigation actions, the suspect was detained for 72 hours and placed in the NAC Detention Centre, being recognized as a suspect. Actions are being taken to identify and document all persons involved in the aforementioned illegal actions and to hold them criminally liable. The case investigations are taking place under the procedural leadership of the prosecutors of the municipality of Balti.
