A department head at SA "Termoelectrica" was detained by the NAC in a case of active and passive corruption

A department head at SA "Termoelectrica" was detained for 72 hours by officers of the National Anti-corruption Centre (NAC) and prosecutors of the Chisinau City Prosecutor's Office, in a case of active and passive corruption aimed at organizing and conducting procurement procedures within the company.

According to the accumulated materials, the official is suspected of having systematically demanded and received financial means that were not due to him from the representative of an economic agent, to favor the respective company in the tenders organized by the company. According to preliminary data, the amount transmitted monthly would have amounted to 10,000 lei.

The NAC officers and prosecutors conducted several criminal prosecution actions, including searches at the service office of the person concerned and at the headquarters of the representative of the economic agent.

During the searches, monetary means, allegedly transmitted for May 2026, electronic information storage devices and documents relevant to the criminal case were detected and seized.

The person concerned was placed in the NAC's criminal detention centre, and criminal investigation actions continue in order to establish all the circumstances of the case and identify all the persons involved.
