The National Anti-corruption Centre (NAC) presents the main actions carried out in the previous week in the field of combating and preventing corruption, as well as in the criminal assets recovery. Thus, the NAC officers carried out 27 searches in criminal cases initiated for illegal financing of political parties, money laundering through virtual assets, as well as for active and passive corruption.

In the first case, the persons concerned would have implemented a scheme for illegal financing of political parties using cryptocurrencies received from abroad, which were then sent to the treasurer of the group and exchanged for lei through intermediaries. Subsequently, the amounts obtained in cash would have been fragmented and distributed by couriers to clandestinely reach the final beneficiaries within the network. The operation is a continuation of the investigations launched in the fall of 2025.

In the second case, the investigations target two employees of the State Inspectorate for Supervision of Non-Food Products and Consumer Protection (ISSPNPC) and two economic agents. According to the case materials, the officials allegedly demanded and received from the economic agents undue monetary means, in exchange for not carrying out state controls on compliance with the norms and rules of activity in trade, the quality of industrial products and services provided, but also for not applying sanctions regarding violations detected in the activity of traders.

During the reference period, criminal investigation officers reported the initiation of 36 new criminal cases and proposed one file for transmission to the court. Currently, nine persons accused in the files managed by the NAC are placed in preventive detention in prisons.

The Criminal Assets Recovery Agency (CARA) has seized assets worth over 12.2 million lei. Other previously seized assets worth about 3 million lei have been confirmed by the courts. At the same time, 360 000 lei were taken over by the Agency, and over 1.3 million lei were deposited in the treasury accounts of the NAC.

In the field of corruption prevention, the NAC has submitted 14 expert reports and an opinion on draft normative acts to the authors. Also, 350 integrity records have been issued and an operational expertise has been carried out. Over 130 people from the public and private sectors have been trained by officers of the Anti-corruption Education Directorate (DEA).
The National Anti-corruption Line received 50 calls, and 1,243 materials were registered in the institution's office.
