NAC Synthesis: Searches carried out in the case of the apartment building affected by the fire in Durlești and over 34 million lei deposited in the treasury accounts of the NAC
The National Anti-corruption Centre (NAC) has announced the summary of the activities of its subdivisions, carried out last week. Thus, the criminal investigation officers carried out several actions in a case opened on corruption-related crimes. 13 people, responsible for the completion, authorization, construction and reception of the apartment building located on 75/1 Tudor Vladimirescu Street in the city of Durlești, affected by the fire on May 16, were searched and questioned, and 10 of them have suspect status. At the same time, a cadastral engineer, investigated by the NAC and the AP, was sentenced by the Chisinau Court, Buiucani headquarters, to 5 years of suspended imprisonment and a fine of 250,000 lei for 3 episodes of active corruption. In addition, two members of an organized criminal group were sent to the dock for fraud and money laundering, in which the NAC's Criminal Assets Recovery Agency (CARA) seized a property worth over half a million lei. During the reporting period, the NAC's criminal investigation officers forwarded 15 criminal cases to prosecutors for resolution, with another 19 cases being initiated.
The Criminal Assets Recovery Agency (CARA) of the NAC announces the deposit of funds into the Agency's treasury accounts in a total amount of over 34 million lei last week. At the same time, the CARA applied seizures on illicit assets worth about 1.8 million lei, which were frozen based on the delegations of the Prosecutor's Office for Combating Organized Crime and Special Cases (PCCOCS) and the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (AP). Among these are 2 means of transport and 2 residential premises. In addition, the seizures previously applied on assets worth about 2.7 million lei were confirmed by court decisions.
In the field of corruption prevention, the Legislation Directorate finalized and submitted to the authors 22 expert reports and 3 opinions on draft normative acts, last week. At the same time, within the framework of the "I Decide with Integrity - I Vote with Responsibility" Campaign, over 3,000 citizens were informed about the risks of electoral corruption. Also last week, 4 operational analyses were conducted and 97 integrity records were released. The National Anti-corruption Hotline received 31 calls, and 1,507 materials were registered in the NAC Chancellery.
