Searches in a case regarding the illegal management of hazardous waste and rigging of a tender at the State Enterprise "Moldelectrica": Four individuals were detained

Officers of the National Anti-corruption Centre, together with prosecutors from the Environmental Crimes Section of the Prosecutor General's Office, conducted searches today in a case regarding the illegal management of hazardous waste and harming the interests of a state-owned enterprise.

As a result of the actions, documents and goods relevant to the investigation were seized. Also, 4 individuals were detained, and another 6 were summoned for questioning as suspects.

According to the investigation, the case concerns the rigging of a tender organized by the State Enterprise Moldelectrica for the purchase of services for the collection and valorisation of hazardous waste. As a result of these actions, an economic operator that did not have the necessary authorizations was designated as the winner, which would have generated a real risk to the health of the population and the environment.

The value of the contracts signed under these conditions exceeds 4 million lei.

The Prosecutor General's Office announced that it will continue to inform the public about the progress of the investigation, while respecting the presumption of innocence of the persons concerned.
